Lynx Re-Sign Guard Layshia Clarendon for Remainder of the Season

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - Minnesota Lynx Head Coach and General Manager Cheryl Reeve today announced the team has re-signed guard Layshia Clarendon for the remainder of the season. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Clarendon will be available for the Saturday, July 3 contest against the Phoenix Mercury.

Clarendon, a 5-9 guard in their ninth season, first signed with Minnesota on May 30 under a hardship exception. They have started in 10 of Minnesota's last 11 contests and hold averages of 7.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 0.5 steals in a Lynx uniform.

On the June 25 game against Las Vegas, he registered a season-high 20 points, connecting on 10-of-15 baskets from the field, seven assists, two rebounds and one steal. She has dished out a total of 54 assists for Minnesota, including a season-high nine against Atlanta on June 23.

Selected ninth overall in the 2013 WNBA Draft out of University of California, Clarendon has recorded a career average of 7.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists with play in Minnesota, New York, Connecticut, Atlanta and Indiana.
