Lynx Grab (Former) Gator By The Tail

September 24, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release

In the continuing quest for excellence on the ice, the Augusta Lynx have agreed to terms with forward Jamie Johnson for the 2004-05 Season.

As a rookie with Louisiana last season, Johnson notched 12 goals and 57 points in 71 games. That total was good enough for fourth in overall scoring with the IceGators, and also earned him a tie for fifth among all ECHL rookies in scoring. The Port Franks, Ontario native also managed a point-per-game in last season's ECHL playoffs with the IceGators, scoring three goals and nine points in as many games.

"We're excited about having Jamie on board," said Lynx Head Coach and Director of Player Operations Stan Drulia. "He's an exciting offensive talent who brings a lot to the table, not to mention having a lot of upside and potential."

Acquired as future considerations along with Rod Sarich in a trade that sent Matt Dzieduszycki to Louisiana last season, the 5-11 forward has shown offensive promise his entire career. During his four-year stint in the Ontario Hockey League, Johnson improved each year during his junior career as well, finishing his final season with the Oshawa Generals by tallying 100 points, 76 on assists.

Johnson is the 18th player signed heading to camp in Augusta this October. Matt Dzieduszycki, Steve Munn, Sean Connolly, Rod Sarich, Terry Marchant, Mark Scott, Jason Saal, Louis Goulet, Todd Bennett, Jarrett Thompson, Treavor Peterson, Lawne Snyder, Dean Jackson, Jeremy Symington, Josh St. Louis, Matt Schmidt, and Lou DiMasi round out the current complement of players. Full and partial season tickets are on sale now through the Lynx office by calling (706) 724-4423, or stopping by the office at 712 Telfair St. in downtown Augusta. Fans may also purchase season tickets on the team's web site at www.augustalynx.com. Full season seats start as low as $340 each!
