Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

BILOXI, Miss. – Mississippi Sea Wolves general manager and coach Bob Woods announced today that the team has re-signed defenseman Chris Cava (KAHV-ah). As per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.

Cava, 24, collected three goals, five points and 168 penalty minutes with Mississippi last season, while appearing in just 46 regular season games due to injuries. The 6-foot and 200-pound Cava netted his first-ever two-goal game on January 25 against Columbus. A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Cava returns for his third season with Mississippi and fourth full year of professional hockey.

"It feels good to be offered a contract," said Cava. "There are a lot of new faces coming in this year and we all have a new start. I'm looking forward to playing hard every shift and hopefully I can stay injury-free this season."

"Chris is a guy that I love to have on my team," said Woods. "He's a utility player that brings a lot of energy. Cava can play any defense or forward position and he's great in the locker room."

Cava brings the number of players signed by the Sea Wolves for the 2004-05 season to 19. Other defensemen inked to deals consist of Kerry Ellis-Toddington, Mike Jarmuth, Jason Kean, Mike Martone, Milt Mastad and Austin Miller. Forwards for the upcoming season include Anthony Battaglia, Darryl Campbell, Nicolas Corbeil, Bobby Cunningham, Lucas Drake, Louis Dumont, Jeff Hutchins, Jay Legault, Travis Lisabeth and Tristan Lush, while goaltenders Randy Hevey and Jason Wolfe have also signed one-year contracts.

The Sea Wolves drop the puck on their ninth ECHL season on October 22 against the Louisiana IceGators at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

Season ticket packages are available by calling (228) 275-WOLF. Packages include 36 regular season home games and four playoff contests starting at just $220.
