The Minnesota Lynx cut a one-time 17-point deficit to just one with 1:23 left in the fourth quarter, but they would get no closer as Minnesota dropped a 76-73 decision to the Seattle Storm in a Tuesday matinee at the Target Center in front of 12,276 fans. The two teams played evenly in the first quarter, but the Storm was able to build a nine-point advantage going into the intermission behind Sue Bird's 13 first-half points. It didn't get much better for the Lynx in the third quarter as they saw the Storm's lead balloon to 17 points with 2:36 left to play in the quarter. The Lynx were able to battle back and close the third with a 10-2 run however, trimming the deficit to single digits going into the final quarter of play. After playing even for the first five minutes of the final quarter, the Lynx went on a 13-2 run, cutting the Storm's lead to just one with 1:23 left to play. After two free throws by Storm forward Carmille Little, the Lynx found themselves down three with 7.5 seconds left to play. Candice Wiggins had an opportunity to tie on a last-second three, but the shot was off target and the Lynx fell as the hard fought comeback came up short. The Storm had four players score in double figures, with guard Sue Bird leading the way with a game-high 22 points. Forward Swin Cash posted a double-double, netting 17 points and collecting 11 rebounds. Minnesota was led by rookie Charde Houston's 16 points off the bench. With the loss, the Lynx fell to 11-12 on the season. The Lynx will now travel to east to take on the Indiana Fever this Thursday before returning home Friday to battle the San Antonio Silver Stars.
