Minnesota Lynx News Release
TONiGHT'S GAME
Minnesota at San Antonio - Friday, June 9 at AT&T Center (7:00 p.m.) Minnesota returns to the Lone Star State on June 9 to take on the San Antonio Silver Stars at the AT&T Center. Home court advantage has been important in this series. The Lynx have dropped their last three games in San Antonio, dating back to a 73-64 victory on Aug. 16, 2003. However, they have defeated the Silver Stars seven consecutive times at Target Center, giving them a 14-10 advantage in the series overall. The game will feature two of the league's top rookies, Minnesota's Seimone Augustus and San Antonio's Sophia Young. Young, taken by the Silver Stars with the fourth overall pick, leads all rookies in rebounding while Augustus is third in the WNBA (second among rookies) in scoring.
UP NEXT
Houston at Minnesota - Sunday, June 11, at Target Center (5:00 p.m.) A week after the Comets handed the Lynx an 85-62 drubbing in Houston, Minnesota will be out for revenge on their home floor. Sheryl Swoopes, Tina Thompson and company will make their first of two trips to the Target Center. Last season, the Lynx also lost their first game to the Comets and bounced back to take the next two and win the season series 2-1. The Comets lead the overall series 19-6.
SEIMONE AUGUSTUS JERSEY GIVEAWAY
The first 1,500 kids at Sunday's game against Houston will receive a free Seimone Augustus jersey presented by U.S. Bank.
MANN OFF TO HOT START
While Seimone Augustus' early season exploits have deservedly caught the eye of basketball fans everywhere, second-year Lynx forward Kristen Mann has quietly made her own mark in Minnesota's first six games. Mann, who was drafted 11th overall in 2005, but never started a game in her rookie season, has started all of the team's first six campaigns. In those contests, Mann's scoring average is up to 9.8 ppg (second on team) from last year's 3.0 ppg. This spike in scoring can be attributed in part to her improved three-point accuracy. Mann leads the team in three-point percentage at 50.0% (9-18). She missed all nine of her attempts last season. In the Lynx' win over Los Angeles on May 31, Mann recorded a career-high 18 points.
RADIO/TV BROADCASTS
All games can be heard on the radio home of the Lynx on BOB 106 with Brian Sieman calling the action. Additionally, Sunday's contest vs. Houston will be telecast on FSN with Marney Gellner and Andrea Lloyd Curry making the call.
