Sun 75, Liberty 60 - June 7, 2006 (Madison Square Garden): The Liberty opened the second home game of the season leading the Connecticut Sun through most of the first quarter ... The lead would not last as the Sun continued to put pressure on the Liberty and posted an 11-0 run ... Connecticut entered the locker room with a halftime lead of 41-34 and it continued on into the second half with their lead steadily increasing ... The Liberty continued to put points on the board into the fourth quarter but could not close the deficit ... Leading scorers for the Liberty were Kelly Schumacher with 14 points and Sherill Baker with 13 points...The Sun finished with four starters in double-figures: Douglas (17), McWillians-Franklin (16), Sales (11) and Dydek (10).

Liberty 89, Sparks 79 - OT - June 3, 2006 (Madison Square Garden): During the Liberty's home opener, New York outscored Los Angeles in both the first and second quarter...The teams headed to the locker rooms with the Liberty leading, 34-30...In the second half, the Sparks led each quarter in scoring...With 0:04 remaining in the fourth quarter, Catherine Kraayeveld hit a three-point shot, on an assist from Becky Hammon, tying the game 68-68...A steal by Christelle N'Garsanet, with the clock at 0:02 ensured the Sparks could not score and forced the game into overtime... In the five minutes of overtime, New York shot 12-13 from the free throw line and outscored the Sparks 21-11, winning their first game of the season...Hammon led the Liberty in scoring with 24 points...Lisa Leslie led the Sparks with 26 points.

New York vs. Houston

The Liberty travels to Houston tonight to take on the Comets ... Game time is set for 8:30 p.m. (EST) at the Toyota Center ... The game will be televised live on MSG Network ... New York is currently 1-5 on the season coming off a lost on Wednesday to Connecticut ... Houston is 5-2, which is good for first place in the Western Conference.

THE DOUBLE-DIGIT CLUB: Despite New York's rocky start they have finished with three players in double-figures since the second game of the regular season, May 23rd...In five games seven different players recorded double-digit nights: Shameka Christon averaging 14.3 ppg, Cathrine Kraayeveld 10.7 ppg, Sherill Baker 14.2 ppg, Becky Hammon 12.0 ppg, Kelly Schumacher 13.7 ppg, and both Ashley Battle with 18 points and Barbara Farris with 13 points against Detroit.

LEADING BY EXAMPLE: Veteran Kelly Schumacher recorded her season high in Wednesday's home matchup with Connecticut, leading her team in scoring with 14 points off a near perfect 6-7 from the field...Since her arrival to the Big Apple she has experienced ups and downs, but in her last two games she has established a presence scoring an average of 13.5 ppg and shooting .733 (11-15 FGA).
