Augusta Lynx News Release

AUGUSTA, Ga.− The Augusta Lynx have acquired defenseman Brock Wilson from the Johnstown Chiefs for future considerations, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations John Marks announced today. The club also announced a series of cuts from training camp.

"Brock is a strong, puck moving defenseman who competes with an edge," Marks said. "We're looking forward to adding him to camp, and seeing what he can bring to our club."

Wilson, 24, spent most of his rookie year last season with the Flint Generals of the International Hockey League, where he notched 32 points (three goals, 29 assists) and 87 penalty minutes in 67 regular season games. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder from St. Louis, Mo., also played two games with the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League last season, recording two penalty minutes.

Marks also announced that the team released forwards Matt Hartman and Igor Karlov, as well as defensemen Jim Jensen and Josh Peterson from their training camp roster today. These moves follow a previous round of cuts from Saturday, in which the club released goaltender Sean Hershman, defensemen Arthur Fritch and Mark Hammersmith, and forwards Jimmy Russo, Ryan Stern and Jamie Thompson.

The club's total training camp roster now stands at 23.

The Augusta Lynx begin their 11th season of play when they host the Mississippi Sea Wolves on Friday, Oct. 17th at 7:30 p.m. Fans coming for opening night are eligible to enter a raffle for a free Breitling watch and shopping spree courtesy of Windsor Jewelers and are eligible for a free gift from Carhartt, courtesy of Boots, Bridles and Britches. Any fan bringing a canned good to the game for Golden Harvest Food Bank's Spooky to be Hungry promotion is also eligible for a buy-one-get-one-free voucher to any future regular-season game.
