THE HILLCATS: Monday, the Hillcats beat the the Salem Red Sox 5-3...RHP J.R. Graham improved to 6-0 after throwing six and two-thirds innings and allowing just two runs...The Hillcats led the whole game after an RBI single for DH Adam Milligan in the first inning...CF Matt Lipka added a two-run single in the second, and 3B Edward Salcedo hit his sixth home run of the season in the third to put the 'Cats up 5-0...The Red Sox scored two runs inthe seventh off Graham knocking him out of the game...RHP Juan Jamie allowd a run in the ninth but held on for his ninth save of the season...The Hillcats are now 28-20 and remain in first place in the Northern Division...

VS. SALEM: The Hillcats lead the season series with the Red Sox 4-3...The Hillcats have won two of three in Lynchburg and are now 2-2 in Salem after Monday's win...At LewisGale field the Hillcats were 3-7 last year, and lost their first five games against the Red Sox on the road...Overall last year, Lynchburg lost the season series 7-13...Lynchburg trails in the All-Time series 155-182...

DAY WALKERS: The Hillcats are 7-3 in day games after Moday's 5-3 victory...

STRIKE EARLY: Lynchburg scored first for the 27th time this season Monday...They are now 22-5 when taking the first lead...That is good for an .815 winning percentage, which is best in the Carolina league...The only team that has scored first in more game this season in the CL is the Winston-Salem Dash...

SCORING SPREE: Lynchburg put up five runs Monday and now has scored 32 over their last five games...This coming after averaging just 2.5 runs per game over their previous eight games...Oddly enough, the team's pitching was so good in that eight-game stretch (limited opponents to two runs or less six times) that the Hillcats went 4-4...Over the last five games, the team is an even 3-2, winning their last three in a row...

WELCOME BACK: OF David Rohm returned to the lineup Monday after missing over a month with a right foot injury...He jammed his foot into the fence in foul territory while making a catch in Salem back on April 18...His return came back in Salem yesterday...He went 2-for 3 with a double, a run scored and a walk...His double came on the first pitch in his first at-bat in the second inning...Rohm is currently on a three-game hitting streak and has hit safely in ten of his twelve games played this year...

UNDEFEATED: RHP J.R. Graham improved to 6-0 Monday...He tossed six and two-thirds innings, allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out three...It was his seventh quality start of the season...He is now tied for the league lead in wins with his teammate RHP Gus Schlosser...RHP Sugar Ray Marimon (3-0) of Wilmington is the only other qualifying pitcher that is still unbeaten...By giving up two earned runs yesterday, Graham increased his ERA from 2.33 to .2.37, which is still good for third best in the circuit...Also currently leads the league in innings pitched (64.2 IP), ranks third in WHIP ratio (1.01), and opposing batters are hitting just .228 against him, which ranks fourth...

UNCHARTED TERRITORY: LHP Dimasther Delgado pitched a season-high seven innings Sunday...It was the first time Delgado had finished seven innings since August 31, 2009...He never went more than six innings with Lynchuburg in 2011 through 23 games, 17 starts...He missed all of 2010 with a number of injuries resulting from a car accident...He also did not strike any out yesterday...It marked the first time he was unable to fan a batter in a start in his career...It was his 55th start as a professional...It was just the second time he didn't strike out a batter in any appearance... The only other time it happened was a one inning appearance July 25, 2011 on the road in Myrtle Beach...

FIVE ON FIVE: SS Nick Ahmed had his first five-hit game of his career Friday night...Went 5-for-6 with two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored...He had his first four-hit game earlier this season (4/24 @ CAR)...The five-hit outburst gave him a five-game hitting streak in which he was 11-for-23 (.478) with three doubles and five RBI...He raised his batting average 20 points last night, from .262 to .282...Saturday night, he went 0-for-5 snapping the streak...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Matt Barnes was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the first round (19th overall) of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Connecticut. ... Was ranked the Red Sox's No. 13 prospect by MLB.com entering the 2012 season. ... Went 11-5 with 1.93 ERA and 117 strikeouts in 17 starts as a junior at UConn. ... Was unanimously chosen Big East Pitcher of the Year, was named a Louisville Slugger and Baseball America All-American and selected to the Big East All-Academic Team in 2011. ... Won the Big East pitching Triple Crown, leading the conference in wins (11), strikeouts (97) and ERA (1.20) during the regular season. ... Pitched for USA Baseball's Collegiate National Team in 2010...Started 2012 with the Low-A Greenvile Drive...Went 2-0 with a 0.34 ERA in five starts...So far with Salem is 2-1 with a 1.13 ERA through four starts...
