THE HILLCATS: Friday, the Hillcats lost to the Frederick Keys 6-2...Keys' starter Nick Haughian tossed a season-high seven innings scoreless en route to the win...He struck out nine, also a season-high...The ‘Cats avoided the shutout in the the top of the ninth, down 6-0 with runners at first and second, INF Joey Terdoslavich doubled in two runs...The Hillcats sit in third place in the Carolina League Northern Division, now 11.5 games back of the first place Frederick Keys...

VS. FREDERICK: The Hillcats are 4-4 against the Keys this season...Their win in Frederick back on April 21 snapped a season-high 10-game losing streak...The ‘Cats went on to win three straight against the Keys but fell short of the sweep dropping game four of that series 2-1...The Road team is 5-3 so far in the season series...Last season, Lynchburg lost the season series to Frederick 8-12...Myrtle Beach (2010 Braves Advance-A affiliate) split the series with Frederick 10-10...

ALL-STARS ANNOUNCED: The Carolina League announced the roster for the 2011 Mid-season All-Star Team Thursday afternoon...Three Hillcats were selected...Andrelton Simmons will start at shortstop, Joey Terdoslavich will start at third base, and Todd Cunningham will be a reserve outfielder...It will be the first All-Star appearances for each Hillcat...With the three selections, the Hillcats boast the most position players on the roster this season...The Myrtle Beach Pelicans and Wilmington Blue Rocks tied for most selections overall with four each...This year, the Modesto Nuts will host the All-Star game June 21 at John Thurman Field in Modesto, CA...

PLAYOFF PICTURE: With the All-Star Break looming just over a week away, soon two teams will clinch play-off spots in the Carolina League...In the Northern Division, the Frederick Keys have begun to separate themselves, winning nine of their last 10...They sit 6.0 games up on the second place Blue Rocks with just nine to play...The Hillcats were officially eliminated from the playoff picture with last night's loss...Things are a bit closer in the Southern Division...Only 7.0 games separate fourth from first...The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are in first place, 3.0 games up on the Kinston Indians in second...The Pelicans and Indians play two more games this weekend in Kinston, so the Indians could pull themselves within one game by the end of the series...

CAN'T WAIT TO GET ON THE ROAD AGAIN: Lynchburg is coming off an eight-game homestand in which they finished 3-5, after going 6-1 the previous week on the road...The struggles at home have been a season-long theme...They are 16-16 on the road after last night's loss in Frederick, but just 10-18 at City Stadium...Their home/road split stats share the same drastic drop-off as well...Hitting .272 on the road but just .257 at home, while posting a 4.75 ERA on in Lynchburg versus a 3.88 ERA elsewhere...

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Seven members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...

TOUGH BREAK: C Braeden Schlehuber hit the disabled list again today...While attempting to put down a sacrifice bunt in the seventh inning Thursday night, his right index finger was struck by the pitch...The ball split open the tip of his finger so bad that he would have to exit the game and require stitches...C Shawn McGill ran in from the bullpen to enter the at-bat with a 1-2 count, runners at first and second and the score tied 1-1...He would ground into a 6-4-3 double play, adding insult to injury as they say...

PLAYER OF THE MONTH: INF Joey Terdoslavich was honored as the Carolina League Player of the Month for May as voted by the league's managers...Terdoslavich hit .304 (31-for-102) with four home runs and 20 RBI in 27 games last month...He is second in the league in home runs with 11 on the season...He also racked up 11 doubles in May, and currently has 18 total, tying him for second in the league as well...His average went from .243 to .279 during the month...The honor was the first weekly or monthly award of his career...Snapped an 0-for-12 slide that started the day the award was announced (6/6) with a single in the fourth last night...

SIMMERING HOT: INF Andrelton Simmons brought his average up to .311 on May 1 after going 3-for-4 in the midst of a season best 13-game hitting streak...Has kept it above .300 ever since, currently hitting .308...Last night, Simmons went 0-for-4, snapping an 11-game hit-streak, second double digit hit-streak of the season...His .308 average is third-best in the league, and his 68 hits rank third as well...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER : RHP Bobby Bundy was selected in the eighth round of the 2008 draft by the Orioles out of Sperry High School (OK)...In 2010, led Delmarva in ERA (2.65), innings pitched (116) and strikeouts (91)...Was 4-6 with a 3.65 ERA...Ninth in the Carolina League in ERA this season (2.73)...Currently 6-3 with a 2.73 ERA...Faced Lynchburg twice...Pitched six shutout innings while striking out nine on 4/24 to earn a win in Frederick...Took loss in Lynchburg 5/10...Gave up four runs on five hits in six innings pitched...Named to the Carolina League All-Star Team...Brother, Dylan, drafted by Orioles with fourth overall pick of this year's draft...
