THE HILLCATS: Yesterday afternoon Lynchburg topped Kinston 8-3 to take three out of four games in the series at Grainger Stadium...Tonight the Hillcats complete a game that was suspended last Wednesday night in Lynchburg and play a seven-inning contest that will serve as the series opener for a four-game series at Pfitzner Stadium...The Cats are trailing the P-Nats 8-2 in the suspended contest through two innings of play...Though the game will be completed in Woodridge because the teams do not play again in Lynchburg, the Hillcats will still bat as the home team as they were when the game began at City Stadium...This set continues an eight-game road trip that will wrap up a stretch of 13 out of 16 on the road...

VS. POTOMAC: The Hillcats are 6-9 against the Nationals thus far this season, going 4-5 at City Stadium and 2-4 at Pfitzner Stadium...Lynchburg is 160-154 against Potomac all-time...Last season the Cats won the season series with the P-Nats 11-9...

BUCKLE UP: Tonight at 5:00 p.m. the Hillcats and Nationals will resume play in the suspended game from last Wednesday night at City Stadium with the P-Nats leading 8-2 after two innings of action...The Cats and Nats are slated to play 23 innings of baseball in roughly a 24-hour period...They will play another seven-inning game tonight after they complete the nine-inning suspended contest and then a nine-inning affair tomorrow with first pitch slated for 12:05 p.m. at the Pfitz...Lynchburg just completed a four-game series in Kinston yesterday and their bus ride from Grainger Stadium was approximately five hours and did not arrive in Woodbridge until 11:30 p.m. last night...Meanwhile, the Nationals played a night game in Myrtle Beach last night and did not leave BB&T Coastal Field until 10:30 p.m. last night and did not return to Woodbridge until a little before 7:00 a.m this morning....On top of all of this, the Green & Gold our at the start of a stretch of 28 games in 28 days in August in the midst of a record hot summer...Today's high is expected to be 94 degrees, while tomorrow it is set to top out at 98...

HOME AWAY FROM HOME: Yesterday the Hillcats improved to 11-5 against the Indians, 7-3 at Kinston and they won five of their last six games this season at Grainger Stadium...That is their best mark against an opponent this season and 7-3 mark at Grainger is their best record in any ballpark this season, including their own (24-31)...The Hillcats are now 9-7 in their last 16 road games...On the flip side, they are 3-12 in their last 15 games at home...The Cats went 2-3 on their most recent road swing and 4-3 on the one prior to that...Those two road swings included series victories at Winston-Salem and Frederick, the two teams that won their respective divisions in the first half...

GOING GRAND AT GRAINGER: OF Kyle Day went 2-for-4 yesterday with a grand slam, four RBI, two runs scored and a walk...It was his second career grand slam and both have come this season at Grainger Stadium...The first came on June 26th off of Indians ace RHP Joe Gardner to give the Hillcats the lead for good in a 5-3 victory...Yesterday Day gave Lynchburg the lead with a first inning grand salami in their 8-2 win...The only other grand slam by a Cata this season was by UTIL Neftali Soto on June 28th at City Stadium against Myrtle Beach and off of RHP Julio Teheran...

BOUNCE BACK: LHP Justin Walker tossed five scoreless innings yesterday to earn his first win at the Advanced-A level...This came after he allowed eight runs on nine hits in just an inning and 1/3 in his Hillcats debut last Wednesday...In his four previous starts (three with Low-A Dayton and one with Lynchburg) he was 0-2 with a 18.98 ERA (26 earned runs in 12 and 1/3 innings)...His start on Wednesday was the beginning of the game that was suspended and is being completed tonight at Potomac...

LET'S FACE IT: INF Brodie Greene got knocked in the face by a sharply his ground ball that he was diving for on the left side of the infield yesterday...He was able to stay in the game...The former Texas A&M Aggie got his in the face twice during his collegiate days and a result wore a mask over his face when he batted...He wore it the remainder of his junior season after he was hit the second time and his entire senior campaign...He wore the mask until his final college game in this year's NCAA Regional Tournament just ten days before he made his professional debut with the Hillcats at Potomac on June 18th...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHERS: RHP Marcos Frias is expected to pick-up where he left off in the suspended game...He was signed by the Nationals in 2007 out of the Dominican Republic..He made his professional debut in 2007 with the Dominican Nationals...In 2008 he worked for the GCL Nationals and went 3-4 with a 2.92 ERA in 13 games (nine starts)...Last season he advanced to full season Low-A and posted a 9-5 mark with a 2.91 ERA in 25 games (23 starts)...This season with the P-Nats he has gone 4-5 with a 6.54 ERA in 14 games (13 starts) thus far this year...He has made two starts against Lynchburg this season and is 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA (six earned runs in five innings)...Frias made back-to-back starts against the Hillcats at the end of April...In the first outing he gave up just one earned run in five innings...The next start though he did not record an out as the first seven men reached (six on hits) against him...That six-run inning is still the biggest inning by the Cats this season and last night in the third inning was the only other inning this year they have brought ten men to the dish...In the first two innings in the game that started on Wednesday night at City Stadium he gave up two runs...In game two RHP Garrett Mock is slated to make the start in game two...He was originally selected by the Diamondbacks in the third round of the 2004 draft out of the University of Houston...In 2006 he was traded with another minor leaguer for RHP Livan Hernandez to the Nationals...In 2007 on his way through the Nationals system he made one start with Potomac and pitched six scoreless innings for the win...He made his major league debt in 2008 with the Nationals and went 1-3 with a 4.17 ERA in 26 games (three starts)...Last season He split time at Triple-A Syracuse and with the Nats...For the big club he posted a 3-10 mark with a 5.62 ERA in 28 games (15 starts)...This season he began the year with the Nationals but only made one start in which he gave up two runs in three and 1/3 innings...He was eventually placed on the 60-game Disabled List with a cervical spine injury...He made his first appearance since returning last Wednesday with Double-A Hagerstown and went three scoreless innings in a start for the Senators...
