THE HILLCATS: Last night the Hillcats toppled the Nationals 8-2 in game one of a three-game series at Potomac...Lynchburg is now 3-5 on their current stretch of 13 in a row on the road...Tonight is the middle-game of the three-game set in Woodbridge and game nine of the longest set of consecutive road games in 2010...
VS. POTOMAC: The Hillcats won the first game of the season against the Nationals last night...Lynchburg is 155-145 against Potomac all-time and are 72-74 in Woodbridge...Last season the Cats won the season series with the P-Nats 11-9 and were 5-5 at the Pfitz...
RIGHT FOOT: With their win last night the Hillcats are now 3-0 in road series openers and 4-1 in game one of series thus far this season...Unfortunately they are 0-5 in road games that have followed the opener that and 2-8 overall after the first game of the set...

UNBLEMISHED: Last night the Hillcats did not commit an error for the second consecutive game...Prior to that Lynchburg had committed an error in ten straight games...This season the Cats have 21 errors in 15 games played, the sixth most errors by a team in the Carolina League...On Wednesday night the Cats had six errors in the doubleheader, two in game one and four in game two (their most in a game this season)...Those six errors led to five unearned runs, including one in each of the first three innings in game two...Lynchburg's .962 fielding percentage is second to last in the CL...
IN POSITION TO SCORE: The Hillcats went 5-for-13 (.385) with men in scoring position last night...Prior to last night their .256 team batting average was fourth amongst eight teams in the Carolina League, but their .198 average with men in scoring position is the worst in the circuit...
SLIDE PIECE: RHP Mark Serrano went six innings last night and gave up just two runs on two hits...It was his first quality start of the season and his first win in his second outing since coming off the Disabled List...Serrano's slider is ranked as the best in the Reds' system by Baseball America and it was a key part of his success last night...
SHOWING SOME POP: UTIL Neftali Soto went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI last night...He also narrowly missed his first home run of the season with a long foul ball down the left field line in the second inning...Prior to last night he had just one extra-base hit in 13 games played...Soto broke Juan Gonzalez's youth home run record in Purto Rico during his college days...
SITE FOR SORE EYES: OF Justin Reed went 2-for-4 with his first home run of the season last night...It was his first multi-hit game of the season...He began the season 0-for-20 with 13 strike outs...
DON'T TEST ME: OF Josh Fellhauer threw out a Salem runner Thursday night at home plate in the fifth inning to keep the game tied at two in the fifth inning...It was his fifth outfield assist of the season, which leads the Carolina League...His assist last night came from center field, he has also hosed a runner from left field and right...Last season with Dayton Fellhauer had four outfield assists in 53 games played...
TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Marcos Frias was signed by the Nationals in 2007 out of the Dominican Republic..He made his professional debut in 2007 with the Dominican Nationals...In 2008 he worked for the GCL Nationals and went 3-4 with a 2.92 ERA in 13 games (nine starts)...Last season he advanced to full season Low-A and posted a 9-5 mark with a 2.91 ERA in 25 games (23 starts)...This season with the P-Nats he has no decisions and a 4.60 ERA in three starts thus far this season...
