THE HILLCATS...embark on a season-ending, week-long road trip with the first of four games against the streaking Potomac Nationals...Watched an early lead evaporate in a 6-3 loss to the Wilmington Blue Rocks in the home finale last night...Were swept at home by Wilmington in a four-game set for the first time in franchise history...Have lost six straight games...Are 1-10 in their last 11 contests...Are just 27-52 (.342) in their last 79 games...
THE NATIONALS...Have won a season-high seven consecutive games...Have allowed a total of 15 runs over that stretch...Are also 12-4 (.750) in their last 16 games...Still, can be eliminated from post-season contention with a loss and a Wilmington win tonight...Have belted the 2nd-most home runs (116) in the league while hitting a collective .270 (3rd in the CL)...Have posted a 4.34 team ERA (5th in the CL)...
2007 vs. POTOMAC: Potomac has won five consecutive games in the season set and leads the season series overall, 10 games to 5...Potomac captured the 2006 season series, 12 games to 8...Overall, the Hillcats have an edge in the lifetime series 133-122 (.522) and have gone 60-61 (.496) in 121 all-time games at Pfitzner Stadium...

LEAGUE LEADER: OF Brad Corley was promoted to Double-A Altoona on Monday...At the time of his promotion, the slugger led the league in both hits (138) and RBIs (89)...In addition, Corley was among the league leads in extra-base hits (2nd/54) and doubles (2nd/36)....He led all Pirates' farmhands a year ago with 100 runs batted in...
ATTENDANCE MARK: The Hillcats established a new single-season attendance record of 164,413 with an announced crowd of 6,306 fans last night...The team drew a franchise-record 157,744 fans to City Stadium in 2006...Prior to 2002, the Lynchburg attendance record of 127,883 stood for 53 seasons...
BROKEN RECORD: OF Pedro Powell established a new Hillcats record by swiping his 64th base of the year on Monday night...He currently leads the league with 66 steals...The 23-year-old led the league last year with 63 stolen bases and is one week away from becoming just the 2nd player in league history to win back-to-back stolen base crowns...Jack Mitchell led the league in the category in both 1952 and 1953...
PERFECT RELIEF: RHP Luis Valdez retired all 16 batters he faced (and recorded 17 outs by inducing a GIDP with an inherited runner on base) in relief last night...He also struck out seven batters, the most by a Hillcats reliever in any outing this year...
