TONIGHT'S GAME:
The Hillcats continue a seven-game homestand with the middle game of a three-game set against the Potomac Nationals...Last night, the Cats equaled their highest offensive output of the season in a 12-4 drubbing of the Nats ...The Cats also matched a season-high by registering 15 hits....The team has now won five of their last six games...With the win, the Cats moved to within 0.5-games of both Wilmington and Potomac for first place in the Northern Division ...All four Northern Division squads are seperated by a total of 1.5-games in the standings ...Currently, every team in the division posts a losing record...The only time a team advanced to the CL post-season without an above .500 record was in 1985...The Winston-Salem Spirts captured the Southern Division first-half crown with a record of 35-35...Following this series, Lynchburg will play 15 of their last 19 games in the first half on the road...
TONIGHT'S OPPONENT
- Hinckley, 23, is a 6-3, 170-pound left-hander drafted by Montreal in the 3rd round of the 2001 draft out of Moore (OK) High School. The Oklahoma City native entered the 2005 season rated by Baseball America as the number one prospect in the Nationals system. Hinckley spent the first month of the 2005 season in Extended Spring Training before joining the P-Nats rotation. Once healthy, he compiled a record of 3-9 with a 4.93 ERA (127.2 ip, 151 h, 90 r, 70 er, 51 bb, 80 k). After a promotion to Double-A Harrisburg in 2004, he went 5-2, 2.87 ERA (94.0 ip, 83 h, 34 r, 30 er, 23 bb, 80 k) in 16 gs. In total, he led all Expos minor leaguers in wins (11) and strikeouts (131). He entered 2003-2005 ranked as either the number one or number two prospect in the Montreal/Washington system according to Baseball America.

Hillcats OF Nyjer Morgan has hit safely in a Hillcats season-high 21 consecutive games (30-80, .375-0-8)...It is the longest active streak in all of minor league baseball...In addition, it is the 2nd longest streak in Hillcats history (see graphic below)...The longest hit streak in Hillcats history is 22 games, amassed by Josh Bonifay in 2002...Bonifay batted .424 (39-92) during his franchise-best hit streak...He also reached base safely in 41 consecutive games that summer...The longest hit streak in the Carolina League this season was Brian Barton's 22-gamer for Kinston...The longest hit streak in Carolina League history is 31 games, accomplished by Martinsville's Pat Cooper in 1948...Morgan's streak began on April 24th and was interrupted for nearly two weeks due to a leg injury sustained on May 8th...At the time of the injury, Morgan was leading all of professional baseball with 21 stolen bases...There have only been 40 hit streaks that have reached 30 or more games in major league history...
