Kinston Indians News Release

20-year-old K-Tribe ace Chuck Lofgren (8-2, 1.77 ERA) won his league leading eighth game of the season; giving up just three hits in seven innings of work in the Indians 3-1 victory over Wilmington. Lofgren is now tied for the most wins in all of Minor League baseball. Scott Roehl picked up his first save of the season, pitching two innings of scoreless relief.

The K-Tribe jumped ahead in the first inning when Brian Barton singled home Brian Finegan, making the score 1-0. Tied at one in the bottom of the fifth, Trevor Crowe picked up his 27th RBI of the season, driving Argenis Reyes home for the go ahead run. The K-Tribe added an insurance run in the sixth, when Brandon Pinckney singled home Jordan Brown to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Indians now have a 33-16 record and a six and a half game lead on second place Winston-Salem in the Carolina League Southern Division. There are just 20 games left in the first half of the Carolina League season.

The K-Tribe will get right back at it on Tuesday at 11 AM, for a special Elementary School Day where local kids come to Grainger for the coolest field trip of the year. The Tribe will finish up the series on Wednesday with another 11 AM game.
