THE HILLCATS...Conclude a six-game homestand seeking to salvage the series finale of a three-game set against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans...Never led in falling to the Pelicans 3-1 last night...Have lost four consecutive games for the first time since the team dropped six consecutive decisions from 5/17- 5/23...Will have each of the next three days off for the Carolina League All-Star break...

FUTURES GAME: Hillcats C Neil Walker was named to the 2006 Futures Game roster Tuesday...The game will take place on July 9th at PNC Park in Pittsburgh and will be broadcast live on ESPN2 (7 inning contest)...Walker grew up in Gibsonia, PA (approximately 20 minutes north of Pittsburgh) and was selected with the11th overall selection in the 2004 June amateur draft...Walker will be joined by Pirates' farmhand LHP Tom Gorzelanny on the US roster...

YO, ADRIAN: OF Nyjer Morgan became the first Hillcats player to record four stolen bases in game since Adrian Brown accomplished the feat in 1996...Morgan leads the CL with 37 steals on the season...

SOUTHERN STRETCH: The Hillcats are concluding a stretch of playing 25 consecutive games against Southern Division foes...They are 11-13 to begin that stretch...The Hillcats are 18-27 against the South this season...

PEARCE CONNECTS: INF Steve Pearce launched his 19th homerun of the year on Friday night in the sixth off RHP James Parr..Pearce's HR total is tied for the third highest in all of minor league baseball...In addition, the South Carolina product has the fourth highest RBI total in the minors with 63...

SCORELESS: LHP Greg Martin went 2.0 scoreless innings on Friday to extend his scoreless innings streak to 21.0 innings...It is the longest streak since Sean Burnett's franchise record 32.1 scoreless innings streak in 2002...The longest scoreless innings streak in CL history is 42 innings...

SCORELESS II: RHP Chad Blackwell has allowed just one run in his first 3 appearances (9.1 innings)...In addition, he became the first Hillcats reliever to strike out more than 6 batters in an outing on 6/20 when he struck out 9 Kinston batters...On the season, he has struck out 14 men to record 28 outs...

TONIGHT'S OPPONENT: Jo-Jo Reyes, 21, is a 6-2, 230-pound left-hander selected by Atlanta in the 2nd round of the 2003 draft out of Riverside City (CA) Community College. The Riverside, CA native began 2006 with Low-A Rome and went 8-1 with a 2.99 ERA (75.1 ip, 62 h, 26 r, 25 er, 25 bb, 84 k). In addition, he was named a South Atlantic League All-Star for his efforts. He began last season with the GCL Braves before earning a promotion in mid-July to Danville (R, Appy). Reyes underwent Tommy John surgery in 2004 which limited the southpaw to a total of 24 appearances over the 2004 and 2005 campaigns.
