Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers News Release

(Brainerd Lakes Area) - In a game where 12 total errors were committed, the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers took advantage for a gutsy 10-5 win over the Rochester Honkers Tuesday night at Mills Field.

The Lunkers were down 4-2 early in the game after three Lunker errors in the Top of the 2nd inning. But Brainerd Lakes would bounce back, with a run in the fourth and then a four-run inning in the sixth. Wade Wass, Tyler Wampler, and Nick Hamilton all had RBIs for the Lunkers in the sixth inning.

Brainerd Lakes Area would pick up three more runs in the seventh, with all of those runs going unearned. The Honkers committed three errors in the Bottom of the 7th.

John McLeod got the start for the Lunkers going three innings, giving up four runs, although only one was earned. He also struck out four.

Garrett Anderson came in and pitched four stellar innings of relief in picking up the win. Anderson struck out seven and did not give up a hit.

The loss goes to Jeff McKenzie, who pitched well for Rochester, but gave up crucial runs in the Bottom of the 6th.

The Lunkers and Honkers open up a three-game series at Mayo Field Wednesday night starting at 7:05. James Farris will get the start for the Lunkers with Cody Peterson getting the nod for the Honkers.
