
Lunkers Earn Dramatic Walk-Off Win Over Duluth

(Brainerd Lakes Area) - Christian Stringer scored from 3rd base in the Bottom of the 9th inning to score the winning run when Matt Hillsinger reached via an error, giving the Lunkers a 2-1 walk-off victory of the Duluth Huskies Monday night at Stewart C. Mills Field.
The walk-off win moves the Lunkers to (12-6) on the season. It is the second walk-off win for the Lunkers this season.
The Lunkers took a 1-0 lead in the sixth after a Casey Roche single brought home Tyler Wampler.
Duluth would tie the game in the 8th when a Adam Humes fly ball got past Lunker right fielder Steven Brault and all the way to the wall, scoring Chris Manship all the way from 1st base. Humes would get into third base via a triple. Then, with Mike Bisenius at the plate, Humes would try and score on a passed ball, but was thrown out at the plate by Lunker pitcher Tyler Sparger on a controversial call.
Aaron Griffin threw six scoreless innings for the Lunkers, giving up four hits and striking out six. Huskies starter Tyler King also went six innings, giving up only one unearned run and striking out five.
Chase Webb took the win for the Lunkers, pitching one inning of relief to get the victory. Dylan Thomas took the loss for the Huskies, pitching 2.2 innings and giving up an unearned run.
The Lunkers and Huskies are back in action Tuesday at Mills Field for the second of the three game series. John McLeod, the left-handed pitcher out of Wake Forest, will get his first start of the season for the Lunkers. Ryan Gibbard out of Webber International will get the start for Duluth. First pitch is set for 7:05.
