KENNEWICK, WA - Chance Lund and Connor Sanvido each scored twice and the Seattle Thunderbirds (1-3) recovered from an early two-goal deficit to record a 6-3 victory over the Everett Silvertips (2-2) in Game 1 of the Red Lion Hotels Pre-Season Tournament. Both teams will return to the ice tomorrow, as Everett will take on the Portland Winterhawks at 11:00 a.m. while the T'birds wait to host the Kootenay Ice at 3:00 p.m.

It was the 'Tips that took control of the contest in the early goings. Off goals from Clayton Cumiskey and Campbell Elynuik, Everett raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first 4 minutes of play.

But, it was the T'birds who assumed control of the contest as they reeled off five straight goals. In an 11-minute span, Sanvido scored twice, along with Lund and Marcel Noebels, as Seattle took a 4-2 lead into the first intermission. Then, 6:36 into the second period, Austin Frank extended the Seattle lead to 5-2.

At the 7:01 mark, Cody Fowlie snapped the Seattle streak and pulled the 'Tips to within two, but it would be as close as they would get. Meanwhile, with 6:43 left to play in the period, Lund picked up his second goal of the game to round out the scoring for Seattle.

The teams skated to a scoreless third period, as Seattle picked up their first win of the post-season. Michael Salmon played all 60 minutes in goal for Seattle, stopping 22 of the 25 shots he saw. Meanwhile, Luke Siemens went the distance in net for the 'Tips, picking up 33 saves on 39 shots in the loss.
