Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
Muskegon, Michigan - The Muskegon Lumberjacks fell to the Green Bay Gamblers 6-2 Sat- urday night at the L.C. Walker Arena and Events Center.
Green Bay struck first when Brett Gruber scored a shorthanded breakaway goal early in the first period. Ten minutes later, Nick Poehling scored on a bang-bang play in front of the Lumberjacks net. Gruber and Jack Poehling picked up the assists on the goal.
The Gamblers kept up the pressure in the second period when Jared Spooner blasted a wrist shot past Lumber- jacks goaltender Joey Daccord to make it a 3-0 lead. That lead would not last, when Trevor Hamilton flicked the puck to Rem Pitlick for a breakaway goal. It was Pitlick's second of the season.
Early in the third period, it looked like the Lumberjacks were poised for a comeback when Collin Adams crashed the Gamblers goaltender Kevin Reich and pounded in his fourth of the season to make it a 3-2 game.
However, that was the closest the Lumberjacks would get, as the Gamblers scored three unanswered goals to win the game 6-2.
The Lumberjacks look ahead to next weekend when they travel to Chicago on Friday to take on the Chicago Steel. Puck drop is at 8:30 p.m.
The next home game is November 20th when the Lumberjacks take on the Dubuque Fighting Saints. It will be Military Appreciation Night as the Lumberjacks will support all of the local veterans.
