Lansing Lugnuts News Release
LANSING- The Lansing Lugnuts were able to take advantage of two first inning errors en route a 6-2 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Sunday before 3,021 fans at Oldsmobile Park. The win is the fifth straight for the Lugnuts and also completes the first-ever four game sweep of Wisconsin for the Lugnuts.
Lansing had its first two baserunners reach via a walk and each man moved up on a passed ball. Jonathan Jaspe then reached on a fielding error that allowed Scott Campbell to score to make it 1-0. Travis Snider then raced home on the second passed ball of the inning to extend the lead to 2-0. Sean Shoffit followed that with an RBI triple to center field to push the advantage to 3-0.
The Timber Rattlers fought back in the third inning to make it a one run game. Juan Diaz and Kuo Hui Lo started the inning with consecutive singles. Ron Garth's RBI groundout made it a 3-1 game, while Joe White's single plated Lo to cut the lead to 3-2.
The score would remain that way until the eighth when Lansing was able to score three insurance runs. Shoffit's RBI single scored Raul Barron from third base to push Lansing ahead 4-2. Jonathan Diaz added a two-run single later in the inning to cap the scoring at 6-2.
