LANSING, Mich. - Emilio Guerrero and Kellen Sweeney each drove in a pair of runs and a stellar performance from the Lansing Lugnuts' pitching staff (12-22) led them to a 5-0 win over the Great Lakes Loons (13-23) on Monday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.

The shutout win gave the Lugnuts the series win in the rubber match and some retribution after a 10-0 loss on Sunday. In total, Lugnuts pitchers allowed just two hits to the Loons and struck out 13 batters.

With two on and two outs in the second inning, Guerrero lined a single to right field off Loons starter Ralston Cash (Loss, 2-2) to give the Lugnuts a 2-0 lead.

Cash lasted 4.1 innings in the loss, allowing five runs - three earned - on five hits. He struck out four but issued five walks to the Lugnuts.

After Cash loaded the bases with three straight walks in the fifth inning, Dalton Pompey came in to score on a wild pitch before Sweeney singled to right, plating two more runs and pushing the Lugs advantage to 5-0.

It was more than enough offense for the Lansing pitching staff, especially the bullpen.

Lugnuts starter Daniel Norris allowed just a single hit in his four-inning no-decision. Chuck Ghysels (Win, 2-1) and Ian Kadish then each followed with two scoreless frames before Arik Sikula pitched a perfect ninth inning, striking out the side.

The Lugnuts now head off to Ohio to start a three-game series against the Lake County Captains. Lansing will send right-hander Javier Avendaño (2-2, 5.13) to the mound in the series opener to face off against Captains righty Michael Peoples (1-2, 1.96). First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.

Lansing Lugnuts tickets are available for purchase at lansinglugnuts.com and by calling 517-485-4500, and Lugnuts text alerts are easily accessed by texting LUGNUTS to 313131.
