Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING, Mich. - The Lansing Lugnuts are proud to announce that they have reached an agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays to extend their player development contract through the 2012 season.

"We're very pleased to continue our partnership with the Blue Jays, one of the top rising organizations in all of baseball," said Lugnuts Co-Owner Tom Dickson.

"This was a no-brainer of a decision," said Blue Jays Director of Minor League Operations Charlie Wilson. "We have an excellent relationship with the Lugnuts' front office, and Cooley Law School Stadium is one of the premier locations in the Minor Leagues thanks to the Lugnuts' enthusiastic fan base."

The Lugnuts have been an affiliate in the Toronto system since 2005, producing 29 Midwest League All-Stars, 420 victories, three playoff berths, and Major Leaguers Travis Snider, Brad Mills, and Marc Rzepczynski.

"It is our goal to bring players with great quality in character and ability to the city of Lansing," Lugnuts General Manager Pat Day added. "The Blue Jays have been outstanding in helping us achieve that expectation on a yearly basis."

In 2010, their 15th season in existence, the Lugnuts were managed by former Major Leaguer Sal Fasano and attained their 1,000th all-time win.

The Lugnuts' 16th season begins on April 7, 2011. For more information, stay updated at www.lansinglugnuts.com .
