MWL Playoff Format

The Midwest League plays a 140 game season, split into two, 70 game halves. Teams qualify for the playoffs by finishing as either the champion or wild card in each half and if the same teams qualify in both halves, then it falls to the next team in line

MWL Playoff Qualifiers: Eastern Division Champs: Lake County and Fort Wayne* Eastern Division Wild Cards: Great Lakes and West Michigan Western Division Champs: Cedar Rapids and Kane County* Western Division Wild Cards: Quad Cities and Clinton *Fort Wayne and Kane County actually finished second in the standings but because Great Lakes and Quad Cities qualified as the first half wild card teams, they make the playoffs as the second half champs.

The MWL Playoffs consist of three rounds: Division Semi-Finals, Division Championship Series (DCS), and League Championship Series (LCS). The first two series are best of three with the LCS a best of five. Of the teams that advance to the DCS, the team with the best overall record in each division has home field advantage. The East and West alternate home field in the LCS, with the East having home field in 2010.
