Three wins during the week, earns reliever league recognition

River Bandits reliever Dan Calhoun was named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week (8/30-9/5). Calhoun is the second Bandit to be recognized by the league this season.

Calhoun picked up three wins out of the River Bandits bullpen over the week. He worked six shutout innings spanning three outings. He also struck out six batters to only one walk during the week.

The lefty has had a very strong second half. In 22 games since the break, he is 6-0 with a 2.74 ERA. His control has impressed as well with only nine walks against 47 strikeouts.

On the season, he leads the team with 10 wins and he has more appearances than any other active pitcher on the Bandits roster heading into the postseason with 37. Of those, 31 have been out of the bullpen.

The River Bandits open postseason play on the road Wednesday against Kane County before returning home for Game 2 Thursday and Game 3 Friday if necessary at Modern Woodmen Park. Tickets are still available by stopping by or calling the River Bandits box office at (563) 3-BANDIT. Tickets can also be purchased online at RiverBandits.com.
