Lincoln Stars News Release

Lincoln Stars forward Tanner Ludtke has been named to the United States Junior Select Team by USA Hockey for the 2022 World Junior A Challenge from Dec. 11-16 in Cornwall, Ontario.

"It's really cool," Ludtke said. "It's always been a dream of mine but honestly, I owe it to the guys that I've been playing with. I've been feeding off them and they make me look good, so thanks to Mason (Marcellus), Doug (Grimes) and recently Jared (Mangan)."

Ludtke, 17, has six goals and eight assists in his first 13 games of the USHL season and will be representing his country for the first time next month. The University of Nebraska at Omaha commit played in 24 games with the Stars last year and also scored 23 goals and added 38 assists in 30 games as captain of Lakeville South High School's team in Minnesota. NHL Central Scouting awarded Ludtke a 'C' rating on its Preliminary Draft List, meaning he projects as a fourth, fifth or sixth-round candidate, last month.

"Tanner has had a great year to this point," Stars head coach Rocky Russo said. "He started the year off fast with a great USHL Showcase and he's continued to be a consistent player for us. It's certainly an opportunity well earned."

Ludtke joins Stars' athletic trainer and equipment manager Corey Courtney on Team USA. All players representing the U.S. are current players in the USHL. The full roster can be viewed at teamusa.usahockey.com/2022wjacroster.
