Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - After a wild weekend on the road, the Chicago Steel return home this Friday and Saturday for a pair of games against the Youngstown Phantoms featuring family-friendly promotions and a LOUD giveaway on Saturday night.

The weekend begins with Superheroes Night on Friday, Nov. 18. Join the Steel for a number of Superhero-themed activities like Guardians of the Galaxy Musical Chairs, Black Widow's Photographic Memory and Collect the Infinity Stones.

Friday marks the return of the Slumberland Family Pack, a deal which includes four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas/waters, four chips and four chuck-a-pucks for just $50. The package can be purchased in amounts up to eight and can be purchased online and purchasing from the column on the right side of the ticketing page.

The first 500 guests at Saturday's game will receive a Vuvuzela to celebrate World Cup Night. Test your knowledge with World Cup trivia, name that soccer player, and a soccer quotes quiz.

The Steel (9-5-0-1; 19 pts.) are set to battle the Youngstown Phantoms (5-5-1-1) with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 pm CT each night.

Chicago split a pair of games last weekend capturing an 11 round, 6-5 shootout win over the Madison Capitols on Friday, Nov. 11, before a 6-5 shootout loss to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The shootout victory came after a stellar shootout performance by goaltender Christian Manz, who stopped 10 of 11 shootout attempts. The shootout winner came in the 11th round from Hunter Hady. Hady rushed in with a fake shot and went forehand-backhand to beat goaltender the Madison goaltender.

After a wild game consisting of four lead changes and five combined third period goals, the Chicago Steel fell short in a shootout on Saturday night in their first matchup of the season against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.

After RoughRiders netminder Bruno Bruveris stood on his head during a 3-on-3 overtime session dominated by Chicago, Cedar Rapids forward Dylan Hryckowian decided the shootout in the second round as he carried the puck wide and beat Manz with a wrister between the circles.

Following an impressive performance this weekend, recording a total of 5 points (4G, 1A), Jack Harvey earned the USHL Forward of the Week Honors for the first time in his USHL career. Harvey currently leads the league in both points, with 24 (14G, 10A), and goals (14) in 15 games this season.

This weekend will be the third and fourth meetings between the Phantoms and Steel out of eight scheduled regular season contests. The Steel have an all-time record of 46-40-3-3 against the Phantoms.

In the first two meetings of the season, Chicago and Youngstown split a weekend series on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22 with the Steel capturing the opener 5-4 before Phantoms goaltender Jacob Fowler stopped all 33 Steel shots he faced the following night in a 5-0 Youngstown victory.

The Phantoms have not lost in regulation in their last five outings and enter the game in the middle of the pack in the USHL in both goals for ( 3.58 per game) and goals against (3.42 per game). Youngstown is led offensively by both William Whitelaw and captain Shane Lachance with eight goals apiece.

Lachance, a 6-foot-5, 218 pound, Edmonton Oilers prospect (2021 Round 6, #186 Overall), is on a three game point streak with 6 points (5G, 1A).

Two players from the Chicago Steel organization were selected to represent the United States at the 2022 World Junior A Challenge in December, USA Hockey announced Wednesday. Jake Livanavage and Christian Manz will represent the Steel in the tournament set to take place in Ontario, Canada.
