Frisco RoughRiders News Release

San Antonio, TX-A pair of four run frames proved to be the difference, as the RoughRiders claimed the series finale over San Antonio 9-3 at Wolff Municipal Stadium. Barret Loux (6-0) picked up his Texas League leading sixth win, while the "˜Riders offense capitalized with two big innings.

Ryan Strausborger didn't wait long to give Frisco their first baserunner. Facing Missions southpaw Andrew Werner (0-4), Strausborger drilled the first pitch of the game to right for a triple. Two batters later, he scored on a fielder's choice by Engel Beltre.

The Missions took the lead in the bottom of the third. After retiring the first seven batters of the ballgame, Loux surrendered back-to-back home runs to Carlos Sosa and Dean Anna to make it 2-1 Missions. Prior to the home run by Sosa, Loux hadn't surrendered a round-tripper all season.

San Antonio added to their advantage in the fourth inning. With one out, Nate Freiman doubled to left off of Loux, before Jason Hagerty walked to put men at first and second. Edinson Rincon followed with an RBI single, driving in Freiman, to make it 3-1.

Frisco turned the tables in the fifth, sending nine men to the plate. Guilder Rodriguez opened the inning with a single, and moved up to second on a base hit by Jose Felix. The "˜Riders catcher moved up to second after Rodriguez was thrown out trying to steal third, while Felix later scored on an RBI single by Jurickson Profar.

Back-to-back errors by Jedd Gyorko and Edinson Rincon allowed Profar to score, and put runners at first and second with two outs. A successful double steal moved both into scoring position, and led Werner to intentionally walk Jared Prince. Hitting with the bases loaded, Chris McGuiness scalded a single down the first base line to give Frisco a three run lead.

In the ninth, the "˜Riders put the game away for good. Engel Beltre brought home Jose Felix on a sacrifice fly, while Mike Olt drilled his seventh home run of the season, a three-run shot off Missions reliever Jeremy McBryde.

Frisco returns home Saturday to play four games against the Midland RockHounds. Jake Brigham (2-1, 3.41) tosses for the "˜Riders, he will be opposed by Hounds right-hander Murphy Smith (3-0, 2.66). First pitch is slated for 7:05, and can be heard on KKGM 1630 AM or on ridersbaseball.com. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:30.
