Louisville's Lynn Family Stadium to Cohost the Women's Cup USA this Summer
March 26, 2024 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Racing Louisville FC News Release
The Women's Cup is coming back to Louisville in grand fashion, showing off one of the top soccer stadiums in North America for the third time in four years.
Louisville's Lynn Family Stadium will serve as a cohost for this year's TWC United States event, which will feature two four-team tournaments this summer. Kansas City will be the other cohost. The full TWC USA fields will soon be revealed, but fans can expect to see top teams from Europe, South America and Africa battling the best in the National Women's Soccer League for a prize purse of $100,000 in each tournament.
"We are delighted to bring a pair of world-class tournaments back to The Women's Cup's original home in the U.S." said J.P. Reynal, CEO of The Women's Cup. "We can't wait to see eight of the top teams in the world compete in two of the best facilities in our sport. Soccer fans in both Kansas City and Louisville show up for their teams, and we know a competition like this, with great clubs from around the world, will be so fun for all of us to see."
More information on TWC's return to Louisville and the U.S., including participating teams and kickoff times, will be released in the coming weeks. The Louisville tournament is set for Aug. 9-13. Tickets for the Louisville and Kansas City events will be available starting the day of that announcement at TheWomensCup.world.
The summer edition of The Women's Cup will follow February's TWC Colombia event in Cali that featured Racing Louisville FC and reigning NWSL champions NJ/NY Gotham FC against Colombian powers América de Cali and Deportivo Cali. Gotham topped Racing in the TWC Colombia final.
The 2024 U.S. tournaments are part of the new TWC Global Series, played in different locations. The champion of each event will be invited to play the Global Series Finals in February 2025 at a neutral site to be announced.
Racing Louisville won the inaugural TWC at home in 2021, defeating Bayern Munich in the final at Lynn Family Stadium. A year later, Seattle-based OL Reign topped Racing in Louisville for the trophy. Atlético Madrid beat AC Milan to win the 2023 TWC in the first version of the tournament played on European soil.
