Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
The Pawtucket Red Sox belted 5 home runs in a wild one at McCoy Stadium on Friday night, beating Durham 15-10. Mauro Gomez hit a couple, a two run shot and a solo homer. Will Middlebrooks smacked his sixth of the year and Tony Thomas hit his third in 18 at bats. A grand slam by Alex Hassan in the seventh inning proved to be the game winner, giving the PawSox a 12-9 lead at the time. Hassan is red hot, going 10 for his last 24. It was the first Triple A home run for Hassan. Lost in the outcome was a 5 hit night for Bulls' center fielder Brandon Guyer.
Brandon Duckworth earned the win with 4 solid innings of relief. Duckworth (3-0) allowed 3 runs. Mark Melancon pitched a scoreless ninth for the PawSox in his first appearance since being sent down.
The series continues on Saturday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. Lefty Alex Torres (1-1, 6.39) faces Ross Ohlendorf (2-0, 1.50).
