Los Angeles Galaxy to host open house at Home Depot Center
March 17, 2004 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
LA Galaxy News Release
CARSON, CA (Wednesday, March 17, 2004) - The Los Angeles Galaxy will be hosting an "Open House" for fans at The Home Depot Center on Sunday, March 21. The event, which is scheduled to run from 1-6 pm, will give prospective ticket buyers the opportunity to visit the majestic facility and choose available seats for purchase through 2004 Galaxy season tickets as well as team's special five-game and ten-game plans.
"We always look forward to opening The Home Depot Center's doors to the Southern California community," said Galaxy President/General Manager Doug Hamilton. "Without their financial and emotional commitment to our sport, we know we would not have such a magnificent stadium to call our home." Also included in the day's festivities is a youth soccer clinic that will feature hands-on demonstrations by the entire Galaxy team and will run from 3:30-5:00 on Training Field # 1 on the grounds of the facility and just outside the main stadium. However, all entries to that event are already sold out.
The Galaxy finished their historic inaugural season at The Home Depot Center in 2003 averaging 21,983 fans over 15 regular season games (81.4% capacity), including three sellout crowds of 27,000 fans (Opening Day, July 4th and Season Finale). In a watershed year for the sport in Southern California, the Galaxy welcomed more than 350,000 fans through the turnstiles, including team exhibitions (China) and U.S. Open Cup (Fresno).
The Galaxy's attendance last season was the best for any team in Major League Soccer since the league's inaugural season (1996). The first team to hit the one million (1998) and two million (2002) fan plateaus, the Galaxy have led the league in attendance during four of the first eight seasons, and hold the top All-Time regular season average (21,083), more than three thousand fans per game ahead of the next best team (MetroStars).
The Galaxy and AEG also brought a host of marquee soccer matches to The Home Depot Center, further enhancing the regional, national and international stature of the facility in its inaugural year. The Guatemala vs. Honduras, Mexico vs. El Salvador, 2003 Pepsi MLS All Star Game, MLS Cup 2003, FIFA Women's World Cup USA 2003 and other exhibitions introduced an additional 200,000+ fans to The Home Depot Center by year's end, exposing the sport and facility to demographics far beyond the already diverse Galaxy base.
Additional significant international matches and competitions were played in front of a full stadium in the early part of 2004, including the opening matchday and the finals of the first-ever InterLiga, a qualifying tournament that granted Mexican clubs sides a direct entry to the Copa Libertadores and two International friendlies.
Los Angeles Galaxy tickets are now on sale for the entire 2004 season at The Home Depot Center, which begins with a match on Saturday April 3 against the New England Revolution. For more information or to purchase your 2004 Los Angeles Galaxy season tickets, please call toll-free 1-877-3GALAXY.
