
Lorenzo Insigne to Participate in 2022 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge

Toronto FC winger Lorenzo Insigne has been named to the 10-man roster of highly acclaimed newcomers and MLS All-Stars that will compete against 10 marquee LIGA MX players in the ultimate test of five skills during the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge on Aug. 9 at Allianz Field, home of Minnesota United FC.
Insigne, 31, recently joined Toronto FC as a Designated Player on July 1, 2022. He spent most of his career with Serie A side Napoli, where he made a combined 434 appearances, scoring 122 goals with 95 assists across all competitions (Serie A, Coppa Italia, Super Cup, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League). In 11 seasons with Napoli, Insigne won three titles including: Super Cup (2014/2015) and Coppa Italia (2013/2014 and 2019/2020). In March 2021, Insigne was selected Serie A MVP of the month, after scoring three goals and registering one assist in four games. He served as the club captain since 2019.
With anticipation building for the best in MLS to take on the best from LIGA MX, the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge presented by AT&T 5G will put the following five skills on full display: Shooting Challenge presented by AT&T 5G; Touch Challenge presented by Old Spice; Cross & Volley Challenge presented by AT&T 5G; Passing Challenge presented by Bounty; and Crossbar Challenge presented by GilletteLabs. Additional information - including rules and scoring for each competition - will be announced in the coming weeks.
The MLS All-Star Skills Challenge will kick off in-stadium festivities at 8:00 p.m. ET on Aug. 9 at Allianz Field before the live broadcasts begin on ESPN2 and TUDN in the U.S and on TSN and TVA Sports (digital) at 8:30 p.m. ET.
