CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Despite facing a deficit throughout Sunday afternoon's game against the Mudcats, the Lookouts simply did not go away. Corey Smith blasted a walk-off, grand slam homer just right of the left field foul pole to give the Lookouts a dramatic 6-4 win over Carolina.

Lookouts starting pitcher Chris Withrow and his counterpart, Tom Cochran, kept up with each other up until the fourth frame, when Carolina finally produced a run. With two outs on the board, Dave Sappelt singled and promptly stole second base. Second baseman Jose Castro followed with an RBI single to give the Mudcats a 1-0 lead.

Castro struck again in the sixth frame with an RBI single, but the Lookouts scored a run of their own in the bottom portion of inning. After three straight walks, Mike Rivera grounded into a double play, which plated Trayvon Robinson.

Carolina augmented their lead to 3-1 in the seventh on a Denis Phipps RBI single to center field. The Mudcats added another run in the ninth inning on a Mike Costanzo RBI double off of Kenley Jansen (1-0). Despite facing a three-run deficit, the Lookouts did not shrivel in the face of long odds. Three straight singles from Jaime Pedroza, Elian Herrera, and Dustin Yount resulted in a run. After an out was recorded on Herrera trying to reach third on the Yount single, Dee Gordon and Trayvon Robinson walked to load the bases. Corey Smith then came up to the plate and blasted a walk-off grand slam over the left field wall off of Jordan Smith (1-3) to effectively end the game.

The Chattanooga Lookouts and Carolina Mudcats wrap-up their five-game series at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
