Lookouts to Be Well Represented in Arizona Fall League

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Arizona Fall League has announced their rosters for the 2007 season. Six 2007 Lookouts, including five on the current roster, have been selected to represent the Surprise Rafters. LHP Tyler Pelland, RHP Josh Roenicke, LHP Pedro Viola, C Craig Tatum, IF Adam Rosales, and OF Chris Dickerson represent six of the seven players in the Reds organization chosen to participate in the offseason league.

Pelland, who is currently pitching for Louisville (AAA), spent the 2006 season and the majority of the 2007 season in Chattanooga. This season, he has appeared in 52 games, compiling 6-5 a record and 3.84 ERA between the two levels.

Roenicke spent the first half of the season in Sarasota (A+) and is currently on the Lookouts' roster. The 2007 Florida State League All-Star has pitched in 44 games this season. He has recorded a 2.42 ERA, 23 saves, and 55 strikeouts in 44.2 innings of work.

Viola has rapidly ascended through the Reds' farm system in 2007. After beginning the season with Dayton (A), where he was selected as a 2007 Midwest League All-Star, the Dominican left-hander pitched in 10 games for Sarasota before being promoted to Chattanooga. Between the three levels, he has appeared in 44 games, posting a 1.47 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 79.1 innings of work.

Tatum, a third round pick in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft, has split time between Sarasota and Chattanooga this season. For the 2007 season, he is currently batting .287 with 12 homers and 60 RBI. Last season, while playing for Dayton, he was selected as a Midwest League All-Star.

Rosales has also split time between Sarasota and Chattanooga this season. The 2007 Florida State League All-Star is hitting .285 with 17 homers and 75 RBI between the two levels. He has also shown solid discipline at the plate, as evident by his .386 on-base percentage.

Dickerson, who began the 2007 season in Chattanooga, has played the majority of this season for Louisville. He currently holds a .259 batting average (.350 ob%) with 12 homeruns and 29 stolen bases for the season. The cousin of former NFL running back Eric Dickerson spent the entire 2006 season in Chattanooga, where he hit at a .242 clip (.355 ob%) to go with 12 homers and 21 stolen bases.

Nearly 1,500 former Arizona Fall Leaguers have gone on to play at the Major League level, including Ryan Howard, Albert Pujols, Derek Jeter, and Roy Halladay. The Arizona Fall League will begin its 16th season on October 9th.
