Estrada Joins Smokies Pitching Staff

Sevierville, Tennessee -- The Tennessee Smokies Professional Baseball Club, the Class AA Southern League Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, have added RHP Jesse Estrada to the active roster. In a corresponding roster move, RHP Jim Henderson has been placed on the disabled list effective for August 29, 2007.

Estrada is a 23-year-old native of El Paso, TX. He is in his third season of professional baseball. The Chicago Cubs acquired Estrada in the thirty-first round of the 2004 draft out of Grayson College located in Denison, TX. Jesse spent the last two seasons with the Class A Peoria Chiefs, compiling a 7-1 record during the 2006 season. Estrada comes to the Smokies from Class A Daytona.

Tennessee plays their final regular season home game of the 2007 season on Wednesday night at Smokies Park beginning at 7:15 pm. The Smokies finish the season on the road for five-game in Carolina, then will get ready for a possible playoff series with the Huntsville Stars. Should they qualify for the post-season, the Smokies would play Games 1 & 2 in Huntsville on Thursday September 6th and Friday September 7th.
