The Lookouts winning streak ends at five as they fall to Mobile 5-2. The Lookouts have won 9 out of their last 11 games and remain atop of the North Division in the Southern League.
Mobile got off to a fast start, as they scored two runs in the top of the first inning. Kennard Jones led the inning off with a single and then was advanced to second on a single by Brett Dowdy. George Kottaras then walked to load the bases. After a strikeout, Steve Baker singled to drive in two runs.
The Lookouts came back in the bottom of the first inning to knot the game at two. Javier Colina drew a one out walk and then came around to score on a double by Joey Votto. Votto then proceeded to steal third and scored on a ground out by Aaron Herr. The RBI was Herr's 30th, which leads the Southern League.
Mobile then put the game out of reach in the seventh with three runs on three hits, and Lookouts error. Once again, Kennard Jones led the inning off with a single and was then sacrificed to second by Brett Dowdy. George Kottaras then reached on a muffed throw by Aaron Herr and was charged with an error. Then Brett Bonvechio hit a towering three-run home run over the right field fence.
Lookouts starter Travis Chick pitched four innings, allowing two runs on six hits, while walking two and striking out six. He did not factor into the decision. Ben Kozlowski took the loss in relief. He went three innings, giving up three runs on four hits. The loss brings his record to 1-1. Mobile starter Roger Deago took the win after tossing seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits. Dale Thyer earned his sixth save of the season for the BayBears.
The Lookouts hit the road for a five game series against the Carolina Mudcats. They will return on Wednesday, May 17th for a five game series against the Huntsville Stars. The gates open at 5:30 and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:15.
