Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

A two-run 10th inning has helped the Tennessee Smokies top the Lookouts 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Field.

The day began well for Chattanooga, scoring first in the opening frame as Calten Daal quickly reached base thanks to a one-out single. He was soon on his way home after outfielder Taylor Trammell lined a ball into center field that plated Daal.

The Smokies didn't take long to respond though thanks to a two-run homer off the bat of infielder Christian Donohue. Lookouts starter Scott Moss settled down thereafter and finished with a quality start, allowing just the two runs across six innings of work while fanning four.

With the teams trading zeroes, Chattanooga found a way to knot the game up at two in the sixth. With the Smokies going to the bullpen, the Lookouts bats rallied thanks to a pair of one-out walks from Gavin LaValley and newest Lookout Jonathan India. An RBI single from Brantley Bell then drove in LaValley from second.

In a low scoring contest, the game opened up in extra innings as Tennessee scored a pair on a passed ball. Chattanooga wasn't to die wondering though, with Stuart Fairchild driving in Daal who started the inning at second base. With Taylor Trammel standing just 90 feet away the Lookouts had their opportunities to once again level the scores, but pinch hitter Tyler Stephenson came up empty to close out the ballgame.

Lookouts right hander Brandon Finnegan tossed a pair of scoreless innings in relief, extending his scoreless streak to three innings after joining the team earlier this week.

The teams will do battle in game in three as southpaw Packy Naughton (5-7, 3.12 ERA) matches up against Thomas Hatch (4-10, 4.66 ERA).
