Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

The Lookouts fall tonight to the Huntsville Stars, 8-3, extending their longest loosing streak of the season to four games. The Looks put three runs on the board in the first inning; however, their bats went silent for the next eight innings.

In the bottom of the first, Chris Dickerson led off with a walk and was then sacrificed to second on a ground out by Luis Bolivar. Joey Votto followed with an RBI single. After Votto had advanced to second on a wild pitch, Noochie Varner parked a Matt Yeatman pitch over the right-center field fence.

The Stars were able to come right back in the top of the second with three runs. From there, they went on to score five more times; with two runs in the sixth and seventh and then they put the final touches on the victory with a run in the ninth. The Stars offense was led by shortstop Ozzie Chavez, who went 2-5, with three RBI and one run. Third baseman Adam Heether got into the mix with a 3-4 night at the plate.

Noochie Varner led the Lookouts offense with a 1-3, two RBI night. Aaron Herr went 3-4, however, he did not add to his league leading RBI total (31). Lookouts starter Eddy Valdez pitched 5.1 innings, allowing three runs, all earned, on five hits. Valdez took the loss, bringing his record to 1-2. Matt Yeatman got the win after tossing five innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits.

The Lookouts will look to get back in the win column tomorrow night as they take on the Stars in game two of a five game series. Gates open at 5:30 and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:15.
