*Diamond Jaxx Complete Successful Road Trip*

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx have completed another successful road trip posting a 7-3 record and collecting wins over two Southern Division teams. The Diamond Jaxx started the trip in Mississippi with the Braves and ended the week with the Biscuits in Montgomery.

The Sunday, May 7th game against the Braves pitted lefty J.R. Mathes against Daniel Curtis of the Braves. Mathes got the defense and run support he needed in an eleven hit outing by the Jaxx in route to a 5-3 victory over the Braves. Chris Walker, Eric Patterson, and Nic Jackson all had two hits each. Scott Moore finished the night with three RBI's and Clay Rapada closed out the game for a save.

Carlos Marmol took on the Braves' Sean White in the second of the five game series between the two teams on Monday, May 8th. Marmol gave up four runs (one unearned) and six hits in just 4 1/3 innings to take the loss 3-4. Marmol tallied five strikeouts, walking just as many. Jose Reyes provided the only runs for the contest with all three RBI's credited to the switch-hitting catcher.

The May 9th game was southpaw Chris Shavers against Chris Waters of the Braves. All the action in this game began in the eighth inning for the Diamond Jaxx. With the Jaxx trailing 3-2 going into the top of the eighth, four consecutive hits, two walks and sac fly drove in four runs for a 6-2 lead. Scott Moore finished the night 2-4 with a homer and two RBIs, while Montanez had three base knocks to lead the team. Rapada worked the final two frames to convert another save opportunity.

Game four of the series on May 10th showcased a solid effort from Jaxx starter Juan Mateo and proved to be a nightmare for Ryan Basner of the Braves. After a 27-minute rain delay at the start of the game, the Jaxx promptly took the field and posted a five spot on the scoreboard. Mateo was masterful over seven innings allowing only two hits and striking out nine. Luis Montanez, Scott Moore, and Gary Cates all had four hits each and drove in a total of ten runs between them. Chris Walker and Eric Patterson added three hits apiece, Walker driving in three more runs. The game featured 25 hits by the Jaxx as they cruised to a 15-1 victory in the highest run-scoring performance of this young season.

The May 11th series finale ended in a 7-1 victory for West Tenn. Jaxx starter Randy Wells allowed only one run on six hits in five innings of work. Luis Montanez dominated with 4-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Red-hot Chris Walker went 3-5 while Micah Hoffpauir hit his ninth of the year, a three run shot in the third.

On May 12th, the Jaxx rolled into Montgomery and continued the power surge. J.R. Mathes got his second win of the trip by beating the Biscuits by the score of 11-2. Mathes mastered Montgomery scattering four hits over six innings while striking out six. Montanez, Walker, and Patterson had nine of the fifteen hits in the game and Micah Hoffpauir homered for the second straight night.

The second game of the series on May 13th sent the Jaxx to the fifth straight win. Carlos Marmol shutout the Biscuits in a 3-0 victory, allowing just three hits over 6 2/3 innings while striking out a season high eleven. The only offense for the game came from a trio of solo homers, one by Eric Patterson and two by Scott Moore. Rapada worked a perfect ninth to pick up his tenth save of the season.

May 14th's affair pitted the hard-throwing lefty Chris Shavers against the crafty Jim Magrane for the Biscuits. The Jaxx offense found itself in lockdown collecting only seven hits scattered throughout the game. Richard Lewis would put the Jaxx ahead early in the second inning 1-0 on a RBI double, but that would be the team's only run of the game in a 2-1 loss.

The fourth game of the series was played on May 15th. Diamond Jaxx starter Juan Mateo owned the Montgomery allowing just one run and two hits over six innings. Hoffpauir tied the game in the fourth with a sacrifice fly and Luis Montanez drove in the deciding run in the sixth with a RBI single. Eric Patterson went 2-4 hitting his fourth triple of the season and Clay Rapada worked around a leadoff single in the ninth to convert his eleventh save of the season.

The May 16th finale left the Diamond Jaxx on the short of a 9-7 loss. Randy Wells pitched a stellar game through six innings giving up two runs on three hits. With a 7-2 lead, Paul Schappert then surrendered five runs while not recording a single out to allow the Biscuits back into the game. Bobby Brownlie surrendered the final two runs in his two innings pitched. Luis Montanez carried the lion's share of the offense going 2-5 with a homerun and four RBIs. Scott Moore also homered and Gary Cates went 3-5 with a double and a RBI.

The Diamond Jaxx return to Pringles tonight to begin a ten game homestand. Make sure to catch the Jaxx in action at the "Big Chip" this week as they face the Mobile BayBears and the Carolina Mudcats, or listen to all the action live on News Talk 101.5.
