Lookout's Comeback Falls Short

August 31, 2022 - Southern League (SL)
Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

The Chattanooga Lookouts almost mounted a five-run comeback in the ninth inning but lost 9-8 to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

Down 9-5 entering the final frame, Brian Rey led off the inning with a single. After an out, Mike Siani hit a single and Elly De La Cruz followed that up with an RBI double. They scored one more on a Nick Quintana groundout and another on a Christian Encarnacion-Strand double. With the bases loaded, Jeffrey Yan walked James Free to make it 9-8, but the rally ended there.

In the loss, Encarnacion-Strand was 4-for-5 with a HR and four RBIs. The homer was his fifth as a Lookout and his 30th this season across two levels and three teams. De La Cruz also had a strong night at the plate, collecting another two hits to raise his average to .321 on the season.

Left-hander Andrew Abbott only allowed three earned runs and reliever Evan Kravetz racked up three scoreless innings to close out the game.

Tomorrow, new Lookouts right-hander Christian Roa makes his debut for the second game of the series. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.
