
Long Time NBA Coach Bob Hill to Lead NBA Development League Coaching Consultants

NEW YORK, Nov. 6, -Bob Hill, Steve Mix, Bruce Kreutzer and Robb Rogers have been named NBA Development League Coaching Consultants, President Dan Reed announced today. Hill will serve as the Coaches Consultant, Mix will be the Big Man Consultant, Kreutzer adds his expertise as the Shooting Consultant and Rogers joins the team as the league's first Strength and Conditioning Consultant. They will be responsible for providing guidance in their areas of expertise to coaches and players across the D-League throughout the year.
"Our Coaching Consultants are absolutely critical to accelerating the development of our talented group of players and coaches, which will help them achieve their goal of an NBA Call-Up," said Reed. "We're thrilled to have such an experienced and impressive group of consultants for this upcoming season."
Hill, who will serve as Coaches Consultant, has over 30 years of coaching experience, including positions with five NBA teams (New York, Indiana, Orlando, San Antonio and Seattle) and four NCAA Division I colleges (Bowling Green, Pittsburgh, Kansas, Fordham). A three-time NBA Coach of the Month winner, Hill led the San Antonio Spurs to two NBA Division titles and reached the Western Conference semifinals once in three years at the helm. A graduate of Bowling Green University, Hill led Kansas to three Big Eight Championships and his teams reached the NCAA Tournament three times.
Mix, who will work exclusively with post players as the Big Man Consultant, is a 13-year veteran of the NBA, having spent time with Detroit, Philadelphia, Milwaukee and the Los Angeles Lakers during his playing career. He was named an NBA All-Star in 1975. Mix was the first University of Toledo alumnus to have his number retired (50) when he was honored in 2006. The owner of the Steve Mix Basketball Academy, Mix used his extensive knowledge of the game as an analyst for the Philadelphia 76ers for 22 years and in the fall of 2006, he worked as the big man coach for the team. For the past two summers, he worked with the Canadian Senior Men's Basketball Team.
Kreutzer, the Shooting Consultant, has over 25 years of coaching experience. The State University of New York graduate began his career as an assistant coach for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1979 before moving on to become a professional scout in Great Britain. Since 1979, Kreutzer has organized camps and clinics in the Charlotte community and surrounding areas and working with players and coaches from around the U.S. and Europe. In 2003, he began the Massanutten Military Academy Post Graduate Basketball program as head coach. The team competed against Division I JV, Junior College and Division II and III programs and was ranked ninth nationally in 2005-06. In 2006, Kreutzer joined former NBA All-Star Mark Price to form the Mark Price Shooting Academy. He serves as the lead shooting instructor and player development coach, while operating the Mark Price Shooting Lab curriculum.
Rogers, a 25-year veteran at the college and professional level, will serve as the inaugural strength and conditioning consultant for the league. Certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Rogers is a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach, certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coached Association. He was honored by the NSCA as the 1996 Southwest Coach of the Year and 1996 National Coach of the year. In 2007, Rogers acted as strength coach to the Hula Bowl All-Star game and addressed the Chinese Olympic coaches in Beijing on behalf of the NSCA. Rogers has presented at national conventions, camps, clinics and seminars for over 20 years.
The NBA D-League Consultants begin working with teams for the 2008-09 season.
