LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (2-10), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, were unable to maintain their fourth quarter lead as the Raptors 905 (4-7) came from behind to take a 106-95 victory tonight at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Long Island jumped out to an early 13-5 lead over the opening 3:50 of the first quarter. The Raptors would quickly respond with an 8-0 run of their own as they evened the score at 13-13. The two teams remained tied, going into the second quarter tied up at 22-22.
The two teams continued their back-and-forth play into the second as they remained even at 34-34 over the first 6:28 of the second quarter. Long Island was able to pull ahead late in the quarter, taking a 52-48 lead into the half.
The game remained tight to start the third, with both teams trading baskets early on. Long Island was able to pull away late once again in the quarter, taking a 79-70 lead into the final quarter of play.
The Raptors 905 came out hot to start the final quarter of play, hitting their first three shots to put them behind three at 79-76. The fast start to the quarter set the tempo for the remainder of the fourth as the Raptors outscored the Nets 36-16, closing out the game with a 106-95 victory.
Two-way guard/forward Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot continued his stretch of strong play for the Nets, scoring a team-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and a steal in 35 minutes of action.
Brooklyn Nets forward Rodions Kurucs, while on assignment with Long Island, finished the game with 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and 1-of-2 shooting from 3-point range to go along with seven rebounds, five assists and a steal in 31 minutes of play.
905 guard Tyler Ennis led the way for the Raptors with a game-high 26 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from the charity stripe to go along with two rebounds and an assist in 34 minutes of play.
905 guard Shamorie Ponds also had a strong performance for the Raptors with 25 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field to go along with five rebounds and an assist in 28 minutes of play.
The Nets play their next game against the Westchester Knicks on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. ET at NYCB LIVE, while the Raptors will travel to Windy City to take on the Bulls next on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 12 p.m. ET.
