Long Island Nets Acquire Uchechi Ogbonna and Zack Rollins

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, have acquired forwards Uchechi Ogbonna and Zack Rollins from the available player pool.

Ogbonna (6'6", 205) was selected by the Texas Legends with the ninth pick in the third round of the 2016 NBA G League Draft prior to being waived on Nov. 10, 2016. Most recently, Ogbonna spent the 2020-21 season in Spain with Baloncesto Xerez CD. Before beginning his professional career, Ogbonna spent two seasons (2012-14) at Daemen College, recording averages of 9.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 22.8 minutes per game over 50 appearances (26 starts).

Rollins (6'6", 215) was originally acquired by Long Island as a local tryout player prior to the 2021-22 season before being waived on Oct. 31. He rejoined the team on Dec. 15 after Long Island was granted an injury hardship exception by the NBA G League while Long Island forward Justin Jackson (right adductor strain) and guard Jordan Bowden (right thumb injury and right meniscus surgery) missed time due to injury. In two appearances with the Nets, he averaged 1.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in 7.3 minutes per game, prior to being waived on Dec. 21. Before beginning his professional career, Rollins played two seasons (2017-19) at Montana State University Billings, appearing in 60 games (57 starts) and averaging 14.9 points and 5.0 rebounds in 29.8 minutes per game. The Pelham, N.Y., native earned All-GNAC Honorable Mention honors during his junior and senior seasons. Rollins played his first two seasons (2014-16) at San Bernardino Valley College, where he appeared in 65 games (34 starts) and averaged 6.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 16.7 minutes per contest before transferring to Montana State University Billings.
