January 4, 2022 - NBA G League (G League) News Release


NBA G LEAGUE REGULAR SEASON: The NBA G League regular season tips off on Wednesday Jan. 5 with the Grand Rapids Gold hosting the Westchester Knicks and the College Park Skyhawks visiting the Long Island Nets at 7 p.m. ET with both games airing on ESPN+. Team records have been reset from Showcase Cup play and teams have been split into Eastern and Western Conferences. The top six teams in each conference with the best records will earn a spot in the 2022 NBA G League Playoffs presented by Google Pixel. The postseason will have a traditional format, culminating with the 2022 NBA G League Finals presented by YouTube TV.

NEXT MAN UP: There have been an NBA G League record 101 GATORADE Call-Ups so far this season, breaking the previous record of 63 during the 2014-15 sea- son. In addition, a record 98 players have earned the Call-Ups, smashing the previous mark of 50 players during the 2017-18 season. On Dec. 21, there were a one-day record 12 GATORADE Call-Ups, surpassing the 11 Call-Ups recorded on Dec. 25 during the lockout-impacted 2011-12 NBA season. Among those earning GA- TORADE Call-Ups so far this season are 2021 AT&T NBA G League Showcase Cup MVP Jarron Cumberland (Delaware Blue Coats) and NBA veterans Jordan Bell (Santa Cruz Warriors), Greg Monroe (Capital City Go-Go), Nik Stauskas and Lance Stephenson (Grand Rapids Gold).

Detroit Pistons guard Hamidou Diallo (OKC Blue, 2018-19) has been on a tear over his last seven games . The 2019 AT&T Slam Dunk Champion is averaging 20.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 steals over this stretch. Diallo scored a season-high 34 points and grabbed a career-best 14 rebounds in a 117-116 overtime win over the San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 1. He also recorded a career-high-tying five steals.
