Reno Silver Sox News Release
After LF Carlos MadridStole home in the first inning, things looked promising for the Reno Silver Sox Saturday night. However Les Lancaster?s team remains winless on the road after losing to the Long Beach Armada 8-5 at Blair Field.
Madrid reached base with an RBI single that scored CF Victor Hall giving Reno a 1-0 lead. Madrid reached third on a bunt by 1B Jose Rodriguez. and then stole home when catcher Cole Cicatelli had vacated the plate to cover third.
The Armada would lead 3-2 after the wild first inning and would add three more runs in the bottom of the second to take a 6-3 lead. The Armada would add two more runs in the seventh and eight innings, making a ninth inning rally by the Silver Sox meaningless. Long Beach starter Jeff Heaverlo earned his first victory of the year pitching seven innings allowing three earned runs.
In his fourth start of the year Reno starter LHP Dusty Bergman. pitched six and two thirds innings allowing seven runs, only one of which was earned.
The Silver Sox will play game four of this series Sunday at 2 PM before traveling to St. George to take on the roadrunners for a three game series in Utah. All games can be heard on the radio on ESPN Radio 630.
The Silver Sox return home next Friday to face the Yuma Scorpions. Get your tickets By visiting the Silver Sox ticket booth at Peccole Park before the game.
