Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

James Lomangino scattered four hits in six scoreless innings with four strikeouts in the Grand Junction 5-1 win over the Orem Owlz in their 2014 home finale at Suplizio Field.

Lomangino earned his third win of the season and in his last three starts of the year he allowed three earned runs in 17 1/3 innings.

Marc Magliaro tossed scoreless seventh and eighth innings, while the Owlz scored an unearned run off Hunter Brothers in the ninth.

Grand Junction struck first when Forrest Wall scored on a Luis Castro ground out after starting the bottom of the first inning with a triple, and the score stayed that way until the fifth when Omar Carrizales singled home Max George to give the Rockies a 2-0 lead.

The Rockies doubled their lead with a pair in the sixth inning, and Max George started the bottom of the seventh inning with his fourth home run of the season, making it a 5-0 game.

Wall reached base four times with two hits and two walks. George and Carrizales added a pair of hits for the Rockies who finish the year 25-13 at home.

The win gets the Rockies to 42-32 on the season, and if they split the last two games of the season in Orem they'll finish with the best record in the Pioneer League. If they win both, they'll break the franchise record for wins in a season.
