VOYAGERS SWEPT
Billings completed a sweep of Great Falls Tuesday, taking another one-run affair 6-5. The visitors got off to a good start, as Zach Fisher hit a two-run homer in the first. In the bottom half, the Mustangs answered when Taylor Sparks hit a two-run bomb of his own. Billings then scored four in the second to take the lead. The Voyagers pulled back two in the fourth as Ryan Jones and Ethan Gross each drove in a run, and then another when Gross singled in another in the sixth. Over the final three innings however, Great Falls did not manage a single hit.
BULLPEN DOMINATES
The Great Falls bullpen was excellent Tuesday in relief of starter Grant Monroe. The relief trio of Jon Bengard, Alex Powers, and Devon Davis worked seven scoreless, allowing three hits while striking out seven. Bengard set a new career-high with three innings of work, while Powers went two, and Davis one.
OUR LAST STAND
Today begins the final homestand of the 2014 regular season for the Voyagers as they welcome the Missoula Osprey to Centene Stadium to begin a two-game set. Great Falls is at the break even mark through their first 36 home games, owning an 18-18 record. The pitching has been strong at home this year for the Voyagers as the staff owns a collective ERA of 2.83, while allowing visiting batters to hit just .239. The offense has struggled in the Electric City however, hitting just .243 and averaging 4.0 runs per contest in front of the home fans.
PLAYOFFS ON THE HORIZON
With the Mustangs clinching the second half title on Saturday, the Voyagers first round playoff opponent is set. Great Falls and Billings will begin their series Friday at 7:05 at Dehler Park. The series will then shift to Centene Stadium for games two and three (if necessary) on Saturday and Sunday with 7:00 p.m. start times.
