Loggers Walked off by Moon Dogs, Lose 8-7

MANKATO, MN - The La Crosse Loggers were defeated in walk-off fashion last night by the Mankato Moon Dogs, dropping the first game of the two-game series.

Connor Harrison (Hawaii) made his seventh start for the Lumberman, tossing 6.0 innings while allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits and 4 strikeouts.

The Moon Dogs got to Harrison in the 2nd inning, in which Charles McAdoo (San Jose State) hit a solo home run followed by RBIs from Mikey Gottschalk (Minnesota State-Mankato) and Boston Merilla (Minnesota).

After being down 4 heading into the 4th frame, the Loggers responded with 7 unanswered runs. Ronald Sweeny III (Minnesota) collected 3 hits on the night and Xavier Casserilla (Wichita State) went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

In the final inning, down 2 runs, the Moon Dogs mounted a comeback via the free pass. After walking the bases loaded, Derek Shoen (University of Mary) was hit by a pitch, Charles McAdoo scored on a wild pitch, and Boston Merilla delivered the walk-off single.
