Locke & Ross Rock Spits In 7-4 Spirit Win

(Saginaw, MI) Eric Locke and Garret Ross combined for 10 points, as the Spirit beat the Windsor Spitfires 7-4 before 5,072 at the Dow Event Center on Saturday night.

Locke, the former Spitfire, had three goals and two assists while Ross had the reverse, with a pair of goals and three helpers, as Saginaw (27-23-3-3) moved nine points up on Windsor (22-27-1-6) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Ontario Hockey League's Western Conference.

Trevor Murphy (1G, 2A) and Alex Aleardi (1G, 1A) led the Spits offensively, while Ben Johnson (16) and Emerson Clark (5) added goals in Windsor's fourth straight loss.

Justin Kea chipped in with a pair of goals for the Spirit, while Jason Shaw and Nick Moutrey each had two assists in the front-end of a home-and-home series that sees Saginaw back in Windsor on Monday.

Jake Paterson made 31 saves in goal for the win, while Jaroslav Pavelka had 35 in a losing cause.
