Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs fell to the visiting London Knights by a score of 5-1 in front of a sellout crowd of 3,145 at the Gatorade Garden City Complex on Sunday afternoon.
London would open the scoring midway through the first period to take a 1-0 lead. They would add a second at the 19:15 mark of the period to put the IceDogs down a pair after one. Despite trailing 2-0, the IceDogs outshot London 15-13 in the opening frame.
The second period would see London add to their lead on the powerplay, scoring at the 2:42 mark to make it 3-0. The IceDogs would not give up however, picking up a powerplay goal of their own, as Steven Shipley would continue his strong play scoring to make it a 3-1 game. That would be the score after 40 minutes, as the IceDogs continued to lead the shot total 29-20.
The IceDogs would continue the pressure in the third, but it would be London that would strike next, scoring at the 11:28 mark of the third to extend the lead to 4-1. The Knights would add a penalty shot marker to make it a 5-1 final. Final shots were 41-32 IceDogs.
The IceDogs will return to action on Thursday night when they play host to the visiting Mississauga Steelheads at the Gatorade City Complex. Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games are still available and can be purchased at all IceDogs ticketing locations.
