Lobban Records First Home Win in 2011 as Tornadoes Top Colonials 4-1

Alex Trezza had an RBI triple, Nick Salotti had another homerun and Ryan Lobban earned his first win of the year with the Tornadoes as Worcester defeated the Pittsfield Colonials 4-1 on Saturday night at the HIP.
Lobban struck out the side in the fifth and allowed one run overall in his six innings of work. The southpaw starter struck out six Pittsfield batters, walked two and allowed six hits.
Trezza's triple came just after Mark Minicozzi was hit by a pitch in the helmet and was taken out o the game in the second inning. Minicozzi walked off of the field on his own and stayed in the dugout to watch the game. Tony Patane replaced him and immediately scored when the Worcester catcher hit his three-bagger. Trezza scored when the following batter, Salotti, hit a sacrifice fly to right.
The Colonials narrowed the deficit to a run in the top of the fourth as Angel Molina hit a long homer to left, but the Tornadoes got a solo shot of their own in the bottom half when Salotti came to the plate.
Worcester added an insurance run in the eighth inning off of MacKenzie King, who was initially slated to start the game but came in during the fourth inning. (Tim Stronach got the start and threw three innings, allowing two runs on two hits and picking up the loss.) Chris Colabello hit a sacrifice fly-- the team's second of the game and second contest in a row with two-- scoring Abraham Nunez to seal the victory.
Rick Asadoorian notched his eighth save with a scoreless, two-strikeout, one-inning performance . Chris Torres reached on a passed bal after Asadoorian's first K, but he was stranded at second when the ballgame ended.
Game three of the series (and of the 10-game home stand) is at 4:05pm on Sunday, as the Tornadoes have their number five starter, Kevin Cooper taking the hill.
